You gave an ok review, at least you put a piece of pipe in and cut it, but come on guys its a vise we want to see how tough it is and what kind of abuse it will take. How about putting some flat stock metal in it and bend it with a 2 lb. hammer, show us what the thing is made of !
Not just another cheap china vise like most are today. Wilton controls its production. Anything no matter where its built depends on who controls producing it. We make junk here in the states too (see GM)...lol This vise was originally designed & made by Wilton in the US but Wilton moved it to china and rents the patent to Yost,Westward ect... Its the same vise design as their top tier bullet models. These don't have the tail extended so they're shorter, don't open as far but are the same sealed design inside. Has the long straight pull nut that runs through it, not just a 1" long anchor nut that fails like china design vises have. Believe me, I've read every post out there on these and even being used very very hard daily in countless mechanic/welding/body shops ect..spanning decades I've only seen very high praise for them. I have the 746 6" and love it. Weighs almost 70lbs. They need to be mounted closer to the edge to clear right but they're absolutely fantastic and smooooth. Like all Wilton named products its lifetime warranted too btw so give it hell.
Five years ago you mounted this vice improperly to the table, oh yeah its still from China too
This is just another cheap vise from china. The one thing missing in this vise is an off set jaw and mounts so as to clear the workbench when clamping something vertical.
