Wheels melt, bearings are cheap, they don't use a spacer between the bearings on each wheel, so when you tighten wheels down to rods enough to hold your work in place,  the lack of spacers between bearings causes wheels spin to become bogged down...leading to melting. I had to modify the wheel setup on mine to enable wheels to turn freely. Pay attention to your wheel washer arrangement. Go to your local skateboard shop and get some quality bearings, and use the spacers provided , believe me, they are there for a reason.  Carter...
